Octogonal and very dark stick of pernambuco, face plate and winding are later. Ebony frog with pearl eye, silver mounting, three-part button with pearl eye. Weight 80g. The bow is in perfect condition.

Albin Hums (1882-1959) was the son of bow maker Ernst Heinrich Hums from Markneukirchen, Germany. He learned at Ernst Knorr also in the same town. Then he experienced at Hermann Prell and in 1904 became in Markneukirchen independent. Besides bow making he was also registerd as a dealer with musical instruments and pernambuco wood. In 1927 at an exhibition in Frankfurt he was awarded with a silver medal and a state award. In his catalogue dated 1915 Albin Hums offered his bows made after various French models, however his work remains coherent and characteristic.
