Round stick of pernambuco, face plate and winding are later. Ebony frog with pearl eye, nickel mounting, three-part button with pearl eye. Weight 79g. The bow is in perfect condition, with only slight natural wear.
Branded ADOLF NÜRNBERGER on the stick. Following text below, the bow was made before 1914. I cannot tell which Adolf (father or son) made it. They also could have cooperated at the manufacture.
Adolf Christian Nürnberger (1853-1914) i Adolf Richard Nürnberger (1880-1914) come from the Nürnberger family from Schönlind, not to be confused with the better known Nürnbergers from Markneukirchen. Adolf Christian Nürnberger was the pupil of Johann Christian Süss and became independent in Markneukirchen in 1875. He married the daughter of his teacher. They had two sons from who the better known was August Albin Nürnberger called “Süss”. He learned at father (1890-1895), appraised at grandfather (1895-1900) and then became independent in Markneukirchen. In 1912 he emigrated to USA. The other son Adolf Richard Nürnberger learned and worked only at his fahter. It seems to have been tragic that they both died in 1914. The sone two months earlier than the father.
